Starry Triggerfish

The Starry Triggerfish, also known as the Flat-tailed Triggerfish or Chicken Fish is a species of Triggerfish characterized by some white spots along the spinal dark band that sometimes appears in the aquarium trade. The tail is dorsoventral and looks very thin, when looked upon in profile. There is a deep groove in front of the eye. The background colour is grey with olivegreen spots.


The male adult can grow up to 60 cm.

this triggerfish lives in the Indo-West Pacific up to the Red Sea and East Africa, at mud, silty sand bottoms, and coral reefs. their diet consists of benthic animals such as crustaceans, crabs, mollusks, and bony fish. It is sometimes eaten as a food fish.
